Could you use 2 pumps with a small 1 gallon tank? You could then have a second pump of the same power but double the height.

If you want more guttering you could have 2 columns but staggered.

Thanks for the hints & ideas. I did actually ponder on the additional tank idea last year and may still well do that. This hydoroponics setup was purely an experiment to see if it could be done. Now I know it works, I may be looking to build an improved mark2 version next year.

My main challenge for next year is to try to get it running without the use of mains power.
