Painting the Garden!

The patio gets a new coat of paint

I decided I was fed up with seeing pictures of my patio throughout this website, looking dirty and broken, so today I decided to repair the holes and re-paint it ahead of the growing season getting into full swing.

The above photo shows the progress so far. The red-bordered inset photo (upper left) shows the embarrassingly dirty and broken patio from before. The main picture is what I did so far today.

The area of patio beneath the bench is newly repaired. I managed to find some ready-mixed path repair cement that you just sprinkle down dry, smooth it out into the shape you want it, and then just spray it with a mist of water from the hosepipe. Quite clever stuff really. Should be hardened off enough to paint tomorrow.

I went for an off-white called buttermilk. It's a bit lighter than the sandstone I used last year and I fear it may be a little bit 'glary' in the sun, but hopefully the growing plants will love it!

I hope to get the rest of the floor painting finished tomorrow (19th March, provided it doesn't rain) and hopefully should be less embarrassed in the future about taking and publishing pictures of my tiny garden!

Looks splendid Rick! And great idea painting it white for the plants- It never would have occurred to me, but it seems obvious enough now that you say so. What a delight to see yor garden develop! I anticipate lush greenery before long, and send you thoughts of sun and vitamin D to chase away the gloom and overcast. We're suffering from the same sort of day today- it's rather maudlin (I think of it as being kind of a Dickens-y day), and I hope that your seedlings and mine will find the will to persevere.

Nice work Rick,
Looks like it'll be great when it's finished. It's surprising how something as simple as a coat of paint makes a massive difference. You've reminded me I have to paint mey fences, might get on with them this weekend if I can, although the forecast is rain.
