My First Harvest!

by Esmeralda M. Rupp-Spangle
(Portland, Or)

Heirloom Cincinnati Market Radishes. All of these came from ONE 5 gallon tub. Container gardening FTW!
My first harvest this year.
They are VERY spicy, not like supermarket radishes at ALL. So yummy. I'm eating some of them with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Oh, yum yum yum!

First Harvest
by: Andrew

Congrats on your first harvest or Radishes.

Now that the soil temperatures have warmed up our fruit and veg have put on a growth spurt. Just had four strawberries off one of our plants that is kept on kitchen windowsill and they were sweeter than those from supermarket.

Rick- They are the only radishes I had going at the MOMENT, though I will be planting more later in the season. I decided to pickle them, and they are even tastier now! I used red wine vinegar, sugar, water, allspice corns, peppercorns, bay leaves, mustard seed, and rosemary- and stuffed them all into a little jar.
I have many many other garden veggies that are looking very healthy, though none are ready to use yet, besides the radishes, arugula, cilantro, and fenugreek.
It's getting a little too summery (still wet and dreary, but I know it's right around the corner) to grow radishes now, and I'm afraid they'll run to seed, so I'm going to use their tub to grow some runner beans or a cauliflower or something.

Squee! More updates as they happen!
