Carrots in the square foot garden after a long germination period
The very first things I planted in my Square foot Garden back in chilly February were my carrot seeds.
For over a month I watched diligently for something to happen, but after 6 weeks, I started to loose hope and started to wonder whether the cold had killed them all off.
However, I checked today (7th April) and guess what I saw? Tiny seedlings starting to show through in all the right places!
I did read that carrots can take a while to germinate, and my long wait is proof of that, but I can officially declare the square foot garden is now in business.
In the meanwhile, I have planted more carrots in the plot next door, and will plant some more in a few weeks time to ensure a steady production of carrots throughout the year.
I got lots done this weekend, and things are really starting to happen now, more to follow shortly...
