'Lettuce' grow together...

by Andrew Pullen

Lettuce on stand

As I mentioned in last blog, I've placed the lettuce on the old greenhouse staging as it frees up space. There's a lot to be said for vertical growing and I'm now looking into this as there's no shortage of wall area to attach some sort of shelving etc.
Only disadvantage with using staging, old tables, work benches etc is the upper or top shelf obstructs the plants growing on the lower shelves. One way around this would be to use a set up similar to the seating at football or baseball grounds. Aren't they called 'bleachers' or something? Anyway these seating units would make great - if a little bulky - plant staging.
