Lead in your pipe?

I've just found out some really shocking information. Did you know that your garden hosepipe could conatin LEAD?
I don't know about you, but this disturbs me greatly.
I really do not want to have to water my garden using a hose that is depositing and leaching lead into the water - water that I am using for growing food that i will eat!
