First Potatoes Coming on a Treat!

by Rick
(From Container-Gardening-For-Food.com)

The first early "Rocket" potatoes I am growing in bags (used compost bags) are coming on a treat. They seem to be growing almost faster than I can back-fill them with additional soil.

I took the above photograph a few minutes ago. I had only back-filled the bags a few days ago to the level where the leaves were just peeking out from the top of the soil.

At this rate, I suspect I'll be enjoying salad potatoes in May!

In the meanwhile, the postman delivered a new batch of seed potatoes today. They are now sat in egg-boxes being chitted in the spare bedroom where it's nice and cool. I hope to get them planted into more bags within a few weeks.

If you want to see the instructional video I made when I first planted these potatoes into bags - the video is here
