Don't Forget The Grid!

by Paul Van de Bussche Sr.

New square foot garden after a heavy rain.

I wanted to express the importance of a highly visible grid. It sounds like such a small thing but it makes the process of planting so much easier. You may think you can just eye it up but things can go wrong rather quickly.

I've used vinyl coated cloths line in the past with excellent results. It stays clean and highly visible and doesn't sag like string and twine can. I plan to use light gauge nylon rope this year and hope for the same results at a lower cost.

A Grid Does Make All The Difference
by: Rick

Thanks for the feedback Paul, and yes I too noticed the moment I added a grid, the whole thing suddenly became much more simple and easier to work with.
I totally agree, adding a grid is essential to making the Square Foot Garden work.

I actually used string with a staple gun - bad idea as already it is starting to stretch. I hope to replace it at some point soon with some stronger clothes line.

Your SFG if coming on nicely!

Cheers
Rick
