Container Gardening for Health

So happy to find this blog!

I've just published a book called Container Gardening for Health: The 12 Most Important Fruits & Vegetables for Your Organic Garden.

A lot of us are conscious of the amount of pesticides we put in our bodies these days. This is evident in the burgeoning organic foods market. The sad truth is, however, organic foods are very expensive. Here is a surprise: 90% of pesticide residues on foods are on just 12 fruits & vegetables. The rest are fairly clean!

I did a lot of research on this topic after my 4 year old son began having seizures. Not wanting to pay the high cost of an organic diet, I decided to grow an organic garden with just the fruits & vegetables that are traditionally high in pesticides.

My research comes straight from the USDA/FDA testing. Every few years, they sample thousands of fruits & vegetables for residues AFTER the foods are washed and prepared for eating. Then they rank the foods according to contamination levels.

The top 12 tend to be foods my family really likes to eat so I developed a plan to grow these organically in containers.

You can read more about my organic container gardening adventure as well as how to grow the "dirty dozen" yourself, in my book- Container Gardening for Health: The 12 Most Important Fruits & Vegetables for Your Organic Garden.

The book is available from Amazon.com, and Amazon.co.uk via the following links....
